SCHOLARSHIPS
We will be offering a limited number of merit-based scholarships, scholarships dedicated to local UP residents, and workshop scholarships. Members of Art Shape Mammoth and previous Visitor Center participants are eligible for a reduced rate. Please include your interest in a scholarship on your application.

Call for Proposals for the 2016 Sustainable Practices Symposium Lecture Series:
Applicants are invited to submit a
proposal for a twenty minute presentation. We are interested in themes
of global concern, issues of sustainability, and contemporary radical practice in art and life. Selected presenters will
receive a $100 scholarship toward their symposium fee.
All meals will be will be primarily ova-vegetarian and prepared in our outdoor kitchen.
On selected event evenings cooking will take place at Centennial Hall's kitchen.
ACCOMMODATIONS
We have a beautiful landscape for tent-camping and a brand-spanking new barn for studio work. Water comes from a single spigot and limited electricity will be available for power tools. Bring your own tent with a rain fly, sleeping bag, and any other camping gear that you need. Please let us know if you are new to camping and need advice on what to bring, but here are some general tips:
WHAT TO BRING
Temperatures can dip to the 30s at night and reach the 90s during the day. Bring a warm sleeping bag and long underwear as well as some shorts and swim wear. It is essential that participants bring outdoor gear such as bug-spray, a flash light, sun block, a brimmed hat, comfortable closed-toe shoes, and layers of clothing. Be sure to bring tools and supplies for making artwork that you will want during your stay. We will provide more detailed suggestions to registered participants.
TRANSPORTATION

TRANSPORTATION
The Visitor Center is located near the town of Ewen, Michigan. The nearest airport is Ironwood, Michigan. Air Choice One flies to (IWD) the Gogebic-Iron County airport form (ORD) Chicago O'Hare.
Greyhound
offers affordable bus service to the Upper Peninsula from many points in
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan. Watersmeet, Michigan is the closest bus stop. Upon acceptance, Visitor Center staff can give advice on travel arrangements and will promote car-pooling option between participants.
Plan to arrive before 6pm Wednesday, August 3rd and depart by 6pm Sunday, August 14th, 2016 for the Visitor Center Team to provide ride service. Arrangements for pick-up from Watersmeet and Ironwood must be made a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. Any pick-ups on other dates will be subject to a transportation fee.
